The Study Tour will take place on the afternoon of 22 August 2023.

Option 1 – Dampier Port Study Tour

Hosted by the Dampier Seafarers, the Dampier Port Study Tour offers a tour of Rio Tinto’s mining operations. Dampier Port is one of the largest bulk export ports in the world and plays a crucial role in driving economic development in the region by attracting investment, facilitating international trade, and generating revenue. This NEDC study tour provides a behind the scenes look at the iron ore ship loading at Parker Point, Rio Tinto’s Dampier Salt mine, East Intercourse Island and a stop at the William Dampier lookout.

Option 2 – Corps Group Site Tour and Murujuga Rock Art Study Tour

After site tour, join Traditional Custodians on a rock art and cultural experience at Ngajarli (Deep Gorge). The remarkable Murujuga Cultural Landscape is receiving global recognition with its nomination for World Heritage Listing. To the local indigenous people, Murujuga is a sacred place where you will find the famed petroglyphs, ancient rock art of cultural significance. There is estimated to be up to one million images, some more than 35,000 years old, found in the National Park.
