National Conference Special EDA Module – CORE 1.4 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Entrepreneurship and Inclusive Economic Development

Economic Development Australia will deliver a one day face to face module on August 22 as part of the National Economic Development Conference in Karratha.

The module will deliver the following learning outcomes:

  • The impacts of colonisation on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the context for participating in Australia’s market capitalist economy.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ position within the Australian economy.
  • The diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ culture, values and livelihoods, and the local context.
  • How to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on economic development matters.
  • The role economic development practitioners can play in supporting / facilitating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and their entrepreneurial power.
  • The obligations for protecting Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) and knowledge.
